New Garden Friends School

NGFS offers an Extended Care Program on the Guilford Campus for all K-8 students. Morning care is offered from 7:30-8:10am and afternoon care is offered starting at 2:30pm until 6:00pm each school day. Full day care is regularly offered on teacher workdays from 7:30am until 6:00pm.

The goal of the Extended Care Program is to create a nurturing atmosphere for students in the transition time between school and home. Opportunity and direction are provided for a variety of individual/group, self-directed/structured, quiet/active, spontaneous/planned, and indoor/outdoor activities. Students are given guidance and support as needed for completing homework, exploring creatively and playing cooperatively. Midway through the afternoon a snack is provided.

The Extended Care Program is planned and structured to be consistent with the educational goals and philosophy of the school. Extended Care Staff regularly communicates with each student’s teachers and parents about the child’s experience. While our first commitment is to parents whose children need care each day, we gladly accept children regularly on a part-time basis.

We offer two payment plans:

1. Parents may pay $230 monthly, at the beginning of each month, for 5 full afternoons of care (until 6:00pm). Parents who choose a year-long Extended Day Care enrollment contract will not be charged for child care on teacher workdays. Full-time non-contracted students pay an additional hourly charge for teacher workdays. Any morning care hours will be billed separately at $2.00 per morning.

2. Parents who use Extended Day Care on a part-time basis will be billed $4.50 per hour. Billing will be made at the end of each month. A late fee of $1.00 per minute will be charged for children picked up after 6:00 pm. Any morning care will be billed separately at $2.00 per morning.

Scholarship Assistance is available and is based on need.
