(rising 7^th – 10^th grade) to travel and explore the amazing natural areas of North Carolina and the surrounding region and country. These trips began as an extension of the tradition set forth by NGFS and its strong commitment to experiential education. The best way to truly understand something is to experience it first hand. That may occur by exploring the wildlife and vegetation of a particular climate, taking a raft down a river or seeing how people live in a large city and in different regions. The trips are designed to give participants a safe peer group in which to interact and to enjoy learning about nature, camping and the cities and areas we visit. Each trip is limited to 12 participants, giving us a 1 to 6 adult to child ratio. Getaways are led by experienced chaperones, one male and one female. We are offering one trip this summer.
