Learn all about dragons, sorcerers, and life in a medieval castle. Visit the dungeon to make potions and spells and imagine your own creatures for our Beastiary book. Create your own family crest on shields, write scrolls, make medallions, and design your own banner. Make your choice of a jester, wizard, or princess hat wand. We will launch catapults and play the game Defend the Castle, along with catapult chess. Celebrate Dragon Day by learning about and making all kinds of dragons, and play Don’t Wake the Dragons! Bake round loaves of bread and try your alchemy skills at turning things into gold. Learn how to tame a unicorn, avoid trolls and goblins, and hunt for the mysterious nest of the basilisk in our quest for magical beasts.

*This is a 4-day week, as we are closed Friday, June 19, for the national holiday, Juneteenth.

This week campers will have a chance to learn about all kinds of animals, from wild animals to the ones that live in your house. We will have some furry friends come for a visit and we will make lots of fun animal crafts, including masks, bug puppets, animal track books, dog biscuits, animal crackers, and much more! We will also be taking our school buses for a trip to the NC Zoo on Thursday. We are looking forward to a fun-filled week of animal adventures and activities!  

Choose a project to build, such as a treasure chest, castle, spaceship, bookshelf, birdhouse, toolbox, dollhouse, and more! Learn how to safely use a handsaw, hammer, hand drill, square, pliers, wood rasp, and screwdriver to build your masterpiece. When not in the carpentry room, campers will work on a variety of wood crafts and architectural challenges, such as building towers, getting creative with giant connecting blocks, mixing natural dyes, and making wooden snakes and robots. Campers will test their skills in our lumber games, design and create Rube Goldberg machines, and build town structures to see if they can survive a multitude of natural disasters.

Come help us mix the essence of the universe to power  our time tunnel that opens the door to time travel. Join us as we journey back in time and encounter amazing characters, creatures, and places from our past. Visit Robin Hood in the Sherwood Forest, learn how to sail ships and decipher rune stones with a Viking, explore the age of the dinosaurs, and use a telegraph machine to send messages. Take a jump into the future to design your own robot and time capsule, and then go back to make a delicious breakfast from a Pioneer’s camp. Create gadgets like a time stream stabilizer, vortex manipulator, time compass, and star-map of when you want to travel. On Friday, we will open the time tunnel to invite famous figures to our time and challenge them to games of wit and valor. Whenever in time we are, fun and adventure awaits!

We have a secret laboratory where we make ooey, gooey, and gross creations! Come join us in the lab as we make slime, silly putty, bouncy blobs and giant soap bubbles. We will walk on top of a giant pool of oobleck, play with circuit boards, make bath bombs, and create shrinking art. You can make ice cream, experiment with Earth magnets, watch ghost crystals vanish, and watch frozen fruit shatter! We will tye-dye t-shirts, make glitter globes, write invisible messages, make play-dough, and experiment with dry ice. We will race balloon powered cars, make a pickle glow, instantly freeze water, generate giant smoke rings, and make smoke bubbles! Visit our Mad Lab and witness mind-boggling feats of Science In Action!

Join the exploration of space as we travel at warp speed and boldly go where no camp has gone before! Learn all about NASA, different space vehicles, and the first men and women to explore space. Build interplanetary rovers, design a colony for another planet, eat astronaut ice cream, make astro-monkey space suits, create your own alien species, and play with tons of science fiction action figures. Shoot model rockets, launch seltzer rockets, make planets, make your own jet packs, build mini space shuttles and learn about star constellations. Join the New Garden Space Command and defend camp from an alien invasion!

Make your own pirate flag and get ready to set sail on the high seas for adventure as we learn all about a pirate’s life! Learn how to use a compass, design your own pirate wardrobe, make “pieces of eight,” create giant treasure maps, and go on daily hunts for treasure. Learn legends of famous pirates such as Grace O’Malley, Blackbeard, and Black Bart, as well as Howell Davis, Captain Morgan, and the tale of Joseph Bannister. Build your own practical Viking longboat, cook ship’s biscuits, make scurvy-fighting lemon-limeade, and design, build, and race your own pirate ship. Join the crew, me hearties!
