Middle School Electives

  • For rising 8th and 9th graders
  •  Sessions are held on Guilford Campus at 1128 New Garden Road.

Middle School Electives are open to rising 8th and 9th grade students. Given the developmental importance of having social interactions at this age, we offer this program to provide a safe and appropriate place for social and learning opportunities in comfortable settings. Everything is oriented toward students trying and doing activities for themselves while having fun with their peers in a relaxed learning environment. Regular field trips are offered at this level.

2026 Middle School Electives Sessions

June 8-12 - Table Top Games ($290)

This week we will venture into the world of games, from those played in ancient civilizations to brand new games, and many in between. We will discuss strategies and design for all sorts of board, card, and dice games, as well as mental and outdoor games and a variety of pen & paper tabletop roleplaying games. We will play familiar games, look at new variations, and play games you have never encountered before. Campers will create their own game components and have the opportunity to design their own brand new games or simple RPG systems!

June 15-18* - Take a Hike! ($235)

This is a 4-day week, as we are closed Friday, June 19, for the national holiday, Juneteenth.

Explore the great outdoors of the Triad with us as we learn how to set up a campsite, cook over a campfire, use a compass, make s’mores, and observe the beauty of the natural world. We will identify local bird species, build survival shelters, create paracord crafts, and mix up our own delicious trail mix. We will visit local and state parks, playgrounds, and streams as we hike, explore, and geocache our way through the week!

June 22-26 - Make It Yourself ($320)

Welcome to our makerspace where there is no shortage of creativity, glitter, and fun! Our crafty campers will have the opportunity to create a number of different projects throughout the week as they explore a variety of crafts and work with a number of different mediums. Crafters will have the opportunity to design and create their own decals and t-shirts, make a totally groovy tie die, learn how to weave different types of friendship bracelets, and find out just how many items we can make out of beads! There will also be several "choose your own adventure" opportunities where campers can decide what they would like to do in the makerspace as they unleash their creativity.

July 6-10 - Goofing Off with Middle School ($320)

This week gives campers the opportunity to explore Greensboro and the Triad area and its many interesting places and activities. Two days of the week, participants will get to select where to eat at local restaurants for lunch. We will see an appropriately rated movie, make homemade ice cream, and take time to explore some of the beautiful parks that are right here in the Gate City. On Monday, participants will have an opportunity to help plan the schedule, so bring your own ideas of fun things to do around town!
