WEEKLY NEWS
10/13/25-10/17/25
We had another fun-filled week in Sunrise! We have enjoyed seeing our students really settling into class routines and strengthening friendships among classmates. On Thursday, we marked our 40th day of school, and on Friday we celebrated yet another 5th birthday!
In literacy, we worked on our Hh sound using various songs, stories, and crafts to help us identify the sound. On Friday, we tried hummus made by the TK group.
In kindergarten math, we finished module one and began individual assessments on Thursday. In TK math, we introduced the concept of mandala patterns in addition to some kindergarten math worksheets, which several of our students really enjoyed. TK students have been enjoying various math-oriented fine motor activities and working on improving their collaborative play skills.
As we close the door on our ninth(!) week of Sunrise, we would like to begin the next step of our kindergarten independence process: dropping off at the door, rather than inside the classroom each morning. Several of our parents do this already and our students are excited to continue working toward being more independent and reducing the amount of traffic in the cubby hallway each morning. Although we would like to begin dropoff at the door, we still love seeing parents’ faces in the classroom, so we will now invite parents into the classroom for a few minutes at the end of the day during pickup.
Several of our students are also expressing they are hungry throughout the day and feeling that they do not have enough to eat to sustain themselves through our busy day. We encourage parents to check in with their students and pack additional snacks if needed. It is important that our students feel nourished so that they can thrive throughout the school day!
One last request: Sunrise is low on disposable silverware. Many of our students request spoons or forks to eat their snack and lunch, and as the year has progressed, our supply is getting light. We’d appreciate any donations of disposable forks and spoons either delivered by hand or through your student. Thanks in advance!
