Summer Voyagers

  • Summer Voyagers camp is held on the Guilford Campus at 1128 New Garden Road.

Summer Voyagers is a brand new camp level for rising 1st graders who have completed kindergarten. This level offers weekly themed sessions that provide a focus for learning about science and historical time periods, and for games and craft projects. STEAM activities (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) are woven into each week. Participants are separated into groups by age to rotate through daily activities. The daily schedule is similar to a day of school, so five-year-olds who have not completed full-day kindergarten are not eligible for this program.

This level will be led by NGFS teachers and staff.

2026 Summer Adventures Sessions

June 8-12 - Journey Through the Jungle ($290)

Envision monkeys swinging from trees, frogs croaking, blue morpho butterflies fluttering, and orchids blooming. The jungles of the world are filled with biodiversity wonders. Prepare for our journey by making expedition bags, decorating your own magnifying glass, and creating your own bird buddies and slithery snakes. Make animal masks, eat “beetles on a branch” snacks, and learn all about sloths and their sleepy habits. Join us to create a canopy full of creatures to explore.

June 15-18* - Food Around the World ($235)

*This is a 4-day week, as we are closed Friday, June 19, for the national holiday, Juneteenth.

Grab your passports to travel with us to locations in the U.S. and around the world to explore exciting cuisines, unique flavors and the places where they are made. To begin, decorate your own chef hats for the kitchen. As we make each dish, also learn about its history and significance. Practice rolling out pizza dough, decorating French butter cookies, assembling fruit kabobs, and identifying spices. Your taste buds will be happy and your stomach will be full.

June 22-26 - Diggin' Up Dinos ($290)

Are dinosaur fossils hidden beneath the playground? Calling all budding paleontologists! Come dig in the dirt for fossils, go on a dinosaur egg hunt, and learn why the T-Rex really was the king of dinosaurs! Want to know which dinosaurs had feathers and which dinosaurs are related to chickens? Create your own dinosaur,  make dino feet, dino tails, and dino masks! Learn about all the wild and weird sauropods and therapods. Build your own working volcano and bake and devour delicious Cretaceous cookies.

July 6-10 - Nature Art ($290)

Join us to explore art in nature. Press leaves and flowers, paint landscapes with water colors, create animal art with clay, rocks, and sticks and make seashell jewelry. Our daily walks through nature will spark wild inspiration as we collect materials for our art. Color with dyes created from plants, make sunprint art, make bark art and make your own tie-dye t-shirts.

July 13-16 - Start Your Engines ($290)

Ready...set...gooooo!!! If it has any kind of engine, we will explore it! Decorate and race car model kits, ride tricycles in the New Garden 500, and build the biggest train track that camp has ever seen. Play with diggers and dump trucks, spaceships, and submarines. Cheer on your favorite boat as it propels to the finish line. Dress to be a pilot that flies paper airplanes both high and low, and fast and slow. Come aboard to explore vehicles that go by land, air, sea and even space!

July 20-24 - Once Upon a Summer ($290)

Join us to explore the magic of fairytales and everything imaginative, from enchanted forests to castles. Read many stories and create your own fairytale. Rescue the jewels from a dragon, make porridge that’s just right, build gingerbread houses, design and decorate magic wands, eat apple desserts, and mix potions in a cauldron. Encounter trolls, witches, and fairy godmothers on a Friday adventure!

July 27-31 - Building ($250)

Calling all aspiring architects and clever construction workers! We will work together on our engineering and construction skills this week. We will build with multiple sizes of blocks, Legos, Brio wooden toys, and many other materials, and have daily building challenges to see what we can design.
