Preschool Summer

  • For children ages 3-5 who have not attended full-day kindergarten
  • Available only for students currently enrolled at NGFS or enrolled for the 2026-27 school year
  • Preschool Summer camp is held on the Guilford Campus at 1128 New Garden Road.

The day begins at 8:00 and ends at 2:30. Families may drop off campers in the morning beginning at 7:45. After camp childcare is offered until 6 p.m. for an additional fee through our Extended Care program.

Preschool Summer offers a safe and comfortable environment for preschool children (ages 3-5) to play, socialize, and learn in the summer. Each session will have a central theme upon which activities are based. Activities include painting, cooking, playing in centers, building, drawing, Play-Doh, and outside play. Afternoon rest time is included; stuffed animal friends and blankets from home are welcome. Occasionally, Preschool campers will take a short walk next door to visit our community garden plot at the Guilford College Farm.

2026 Preschool Summer Sessions

June 8-12 - Fairy Tales ($250)

Come learn amazing tales of fairies, dragons, giants, and castles in magical lands! We will read the pages of some of our favorite storybooks. Through these tales, we will follow the bread crumbs and use magic beans to find treasure and adventure.

June 15-18* - Night and Day ($220)

*This is a 4-day week, as we are closed Friday, June 19, for the national holiday, Juneteenth.

Get ready for a day-and-night adventure! During this week, we will discover the wonderful worlds of night and daytime. Not only will we learn about sunshine, birds, and flowers, but also all things cozy that happen once the sun sets. From the stars in the sky to hooting owls, the night will be just as bright as the sun.

June 22-26 - Planes, Trains, and Automobiles ($250)

Learn about all the methods of travel we use to get around.  Play with many kinds of vehicle toys and transform big boxes into vehicles. Small wooden models will be constructed to take home as well. Oh, the places we'll go!

July 6-10 - Wonderful World of Colors ($250)

Step into a rainbow! We will explore colors using acrylics, liquid watercolors, oil pastels, and many other colorful media. Campers will see the spectrum of colors through a prism. They will play color games, sing songs, and create a colorful snack. They will also complete colorful crafts and tie-dye t-shirts.

July 13-17 - Bugs, Butterflies, and Creepy Crawlies ($250)

We will get to know many-legged and winged creatures this week. We will explore our outdoor areas for creepy crawly friends. We will build, draw, paint, and even act like bugs. We will make “dirt cup” desserts, and spider cookies among other delicious bug inspired foods.

July 20-24 - Sticky Science ($250)

Calling all curious minds! This week we'll become inquisitive scientists and conduct many messy experiments. We will make play dough, slime and grow crystals. We will conduct experiments with honey, test mints and play with oobleck.

July 27-31 - Building ($250)

Calling all aspiring architects and clever construction workers! We will work together on our engineering and construction skills this week. We will build with multiple sizes of blocks, Legos, Brio wooden toys, and many other materials, and have daily building challenges to see what we can design.
