International Students

Be a Part of Our Community

At New Garden Friends School we appreciate our obligation to prepare students to participate meaningfully as global citizens. We welcome international students to live and learn with us for we know that tomorrow’s leaders will require more than the ability to think critically and creatively; the future will require communication and cooperation with people from all over the globe. When students come to understand how other people experience the world, they begin to challenge their own assumptions. For many students, even well-traveled ones, this is how they begin to thoughtfully consider ideas from more than one perspective.

NGFS provides international students from diverse backgrounds an enriching and challenging Friends school experience. Our students benefit from not only receiving the preparation and support they need to succeed in U.S. colleges and universities, they also develop the friendships and skills they need to grow into responsible and caring citizens of the world.

International Admissions Process

We are pleased that you are considering New Garden Friends School’s International Student Program. Our application process will allow you to become familiar with our school, while we have the opportunity to get to know your child. We encourage you to ask many questions throughout the application process—we can always be reached at admissions@ngfs.org or by calling 336-299-0964.

STEP 1: COMPLETE AN ONLINE APPLICATION
Please follow this link to start your online application. You will be prompted to create a username and password, and although the application only takes about 15 minutes to complete, you will be able to pause and resume as necessary. This same login will allow you to track the status of your application and supplemental pieces.

STEP 2: SUBMIT YOUR FORMS
Download the Supplemental Forms Packet from the application, and arrange to have your child’s complete school records and the teacher recommendation form(s) sent directly to the Admission Office. Please make sure all credentials are translated into English. Consultants should not fill out forms on behalf of teachers, school administrators, or students.

STEP 3: ADMISSION TESTING
Applicants should take a standardized English proficiency test which assesses speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

STEP 4: STUDENT INTERVIEW
Our admissions counselor will make arrangements for a Skype interview or to meet prospective students in person if families are visiting the area.

STEP 5: SCHOOL MAKES ADMISSION DECISION
Once all the forms are received by the school we will review the information and then contact the applicant’s representative to inform them of the school's decision. If the applicant is accepted the school will issue an I-20. Please note there is an international student fee that is required for school entry.
