We are looking forward to our 8th-grade families attending, and we welcome 7th-grade families to this event on March 3rd if you'd like to be thinking ahead.

What a wealth of knowledge and experience in one room to have some great conversations about your students' upcoming transition year at NGFS!

MOVE-UP DAY - Wednesday, April 8
Save the Date!
Move-Up Day provides an opportunity for rising 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th grade students to spend a day in the next grade level. On this day, our 8th graders will visit Upper School. This gives students a chance to know what the classrooms look like, experience what academic activities are like at the next level, and connect with students and teachers. Often, students have a sense of excitement and begin to look forward to the next school year. Please mark your calendars for this important day and avoid scheduling appointments for your child on April 8.
In peace,
Tanisha Jones

Middle School Families,
Good afternoon! We are preparing for our next Whole School Meeting for Worship, centered on celebrating the life of MLK Jr., this Friday, January 16, starting at 9 a.m. Because Friday morning temperatures are in the teens, we have moved the location from New Garden Meeting to our Guilford Campus Student Activities Center (the gym).
To help with the start of Meeting for Worship at 9, please drop off your Middle School student at the lower campus, located at 1128 New Garden Road, on Friday morning, January 16, instead of at the upper campus. Follow the car line to drop off your student; they will be directed to the Extended Care room to meet their teachers. After meeting, students will be transported by school bus to the upper campus.

Dear Middle School Families,
Join us for our upcoming conference day on Friday, December 12. Please note that there will be no school for students on this day. Participation in these conferences is optional, but I hope you will take this opportunity to check in with any of your child's content teachers to address concerns or discuss specific educational experiences. If you would like to arrange a conference with the team, please contact your child’s advisor via email, who will coordinate a time for everyone.
We value the partnership between teachers, parents, and guardians; these conferences offer another opportunity for communication and collaboration between home and school. Your active involvement makes a significant contribution to our students' overall success and growth.
Use the links below to sign up for a conference by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10. After this deadline, the sign-up links will be closed; however, you may still email a teacher directly to arrange a conference time or cancel a previously scheduled conference.

Friends,
Middle School has begun our process for Simple Gifts. Simple Gifts is a long-standing tradition here at NGFS, and we are excited to see all of the creative and unique items the students make for one another. The first Due Date for students is this Friday, Nov. 14th.
Please take the time to read over the Simple Gifts Explanation, as well as assist your child in creating a plan of action for creating the gift. Students were given a Simple Gifts Idea Form to complete by this Friday, which is essentially a worksheet for planning their ideas. While the work should be their own, we know that parents are crucial in helping to obtain materials and create a timeframe that is feasible for project completion.
Please contact your student's advisor if you have questions.
In partnership,
Barry (and the Middle School Team)

Dear 7th Grade Students and Families,
On Thursday, October 9, we will administer the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT 8/9) and the PSAT National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT). Students in grades 8, 9, and 11 will be testing in various classrooms across campus. Please note that no academic classes will be held that day, and 7th-grade students are not required to attend school. Take the time to catch up on assignments or have something fun to do!

Fall Trip Reminders from Kathryn, School Nurse
Complete this short form by Monday, Sept. 22, to let Kathryn know if you will or will not send medication(s) for your child for this trip. This allows for efficient tracking of the receipt of medications and any necessary follow-up communication.
Medication Administration Authorization Form
- If your child will need medications during the day or night, please note that both prescription and non-prescription OTC (over the counter) medications must be prescribed, authorized, and signed by a physician or provider and parent/guardian. Form is located on the School Health page.
- We will have OTC meds with us. Please do not send OTC meds, vitamins, or supplements unless they are absolutely necessary.
Forms and medications are due by Tuesday, Sept. 23. Give these directly to Kathryn or to Hanna. Forms can be submitted electronically to health@ngfs.org.
Questions? Email Kathryn at health@ngfs.org.
Friends,
We wanted to gauge interest in chaperone volunteers for different levels of trips taken by Middle School. The form is completely optional and no parent is required to attend field trips or our Fall/Spring trips. However, each year we have parents who would like to attend and filling out this form helps us make informed decisions choosing chaperones based on both availability and skill sets. If you'd like to accompany us on a trip, please use the link below to share a bit about yourself and your skill set(s).

Barry, Beth, Clarissa, Danielle and Madison
Hello middle and upper school families!
As NGFS continues to provide students with a range of opportunities to excel in the evolving digital age, we are thrilled to offer a unique after-school robotics program to students in grades 7 through 12. Led by Julia Wagner, our Robotics Teacher and the Director of Education and Programs at FIRST North Carolina, this program will be a one-of-a-kind opportunity for our students to delve into STEM, learning engineering and problem-solving skills while deepening their appreciation for the field.
If your student is interested in gaining hands-on experience in designing and building robots, experiencing real-world engineering, and possibly competing, we invite you to join us for an interest meeting. This meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, at 6 p.m. in the Upper School Commons on the Bob Page Campus, will provide all the details about the program, led by Julia Wagner.
Click here to complete the form as we gauge parent/guardian interest for the meeting. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Best,
Tanisha Jones

Weekly News
11/10/25-11/14/25
This week was the start of our second trimester. We began the week drawing names for Simple Gifts. Simple Gifts is a long-standing NGFS tradition. Last week, students completed interest forms. On Monday, every middle school student drew the name of a classmate. They will spend the weeks leading up to Winter Break creating a Simple Gift for their classmate to be presented on Wednesday, December 17th. Information was shared with students and sent home to parents. It can also be found here and is also posted above as well as in the “Class Emails” section.
On Wednesday, the MS Quaker Life Committee led our Campus Meeting for Worship. Sharing the theme of being grateful, feathers were distributed to everyone in attendance. We were asked to focus on gratitude in the silence, and fill our feather with the people or things we are grateful for. The MS Quaker Life Committee will be using these feathers to make a display of gratitude on Bob Page Campus.
