WEEKLY NEWS
4/20-4/24
Weekly Glimmer: Spirit week! I am not sure who enjoyed spirit week more, our friends or Cara and Julia. Each day we looked forward to seeing how each of the individuals in our community would interpret the theme of the day. And each day our friends did not disappoint. The best part was seeing the reactions on our friends faces when a new friend would enter in the morning. We had so much fun sharing our outfits each day!
Academics: This week we learned the final letter of the alphabet, Qq. This has been a long awaited moment for us in Sunrise and we are very excited to have learned all of the letters. Qu is a tricky sound because it has two sounds /k/ and /w/. We also learned that q and u are always paired together when we are spelling. Even though we have learned all the alphabet letters there are still more sounds for us to learn. TK continued our space exploration this week with several trips into space and back! After doing research and making several plans, we worked together to build our rockets and mission control centers. This led to lots of visual-spacial exploration, fine motor honing, and an astronaut’s most important work: cooperation! This week in math we learned about counting on and solving math stories with the change unknown. We continue to use a variety of strategies to solve our math problems. We used our number line this week and my favorite tool, our hands! We started a new unit this week. We are learning all about farms. This week we learned about cows and chickens. We also started a KWL chart to keep track of the things that we already know about farms as well as the things that we want to learn about farms.
