WEEKLY NEWS
5/11-5/15

This week’s glimmer: We absolutely loved our trip to Triad Lanes bowling alley on Tuesday! Our buddies met us there, helped us get our shoes on, and were the most amazing teammates while we all worked together to become better bowlers and better friends. It has been so sweet to see how our Sunrisers have warmed up to their buddies throughout the year, and what great leaders our buddies have become.
This week’s academics: This week we introduced two new sounds, /th/ voiced and /th/ unvoiced. We talked about how these two sounds are sister sounds because our mouth position does not change. We read a story called Off to the Shop about a little boy and his mother who go shopping and have all kinds of unexpected happenings. This week we started our last module in math. This week our work begins with understanding place value. We talked about using tools to help us organize our thinking as well as making counting more efficient as we increase the quantity of objects we count. Meanwhile, TK has enjoyed some extra craft time with our beloved Art Maura this week while I continue assessments, and I have been so impressed to see how much they have learned. Between making Play-Doh pinch pots with Maura and doing important “special work” with me, the students have loved getting some free time to create and show off how much they’ve learned this year!
