In literacy, both grades are wrapping up their units. third graders are reviewing major concepts of learning about the Roman Empire, as well as, grammar and vocabulary from the unit. They are also revising and editing an opinion piece about which Roman god should have a statue created for. Fourth grade is in the process of completing a personal poetry collection. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to select your favorite poem and share that with the class. In other literacy news, Horizoners continue to meet about their book club novels. We have one more week to complete these books and share responses and conversation.
Third grade mathematicians worked hard to master our first topic on understanding area. On Tuesday we took our first quiz before jumping into our next topic where we started to learn about the equation used to find area. To learn more about this topic, check out this Family Math Letter. Fourth graders worked hard to learn how to turn an improper fraction into a mixed number and a mixed number into an improper fraction. We took our topic quiz on Wednesday before jumping into our next topic on creating equivalent fractions. To learn more about our next topic, check out this Family Math Letter.
For our Horizon Spring Trip, in addition to the Horizon teaching team, we take additional staff and a few parents to help chaperone the students. This would entail attending the trip for its entirety and pitching in to help in a variety of ways. If you are interested in chaperoning on our Spring Trip, then let your contact teacher know before Spring Break.
