WEEKLY NEWS
4/30-4/2
This week in ACG, we continued our discussion of Spring time, specifically about bunnies and chicks and how we see lots of baby animals this time of year. We made crafts of chicks in the rain, using watercolor in droppers, and chicks in an egg shell, using dot markers. We read “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Chick” at small circle time where we exercised our recognition of rhyming words.
Some of our other highlights this week happened while we were enjoying the gorgeous weather during outside playtime! We started watering our new flowers on the ACG playground. Charles led an egg hunt in the woods, which they all very much enjoyed! We’ve been pointing out all the bugs and animals we find while we’re outside and talk about how we can be good observers in nature.

It was a fun and exciting week in ACG! We started off the week continuing to observe our classroom caterpillars. We were so excited to see how much they had grown! By the end of the week we couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw they were all hanging from the “Chris-a-lid” and beginning to form their chrysalises!! We all created flower paintings to welcome spring and th warm weather that came along as the week progressed. We had the most exciting end to our week with the excitement of both the book fair and Grandfriends day. It was so wonderful to welcome so many family members to our school and classroom community and share with them the things that their students learn and love each day. Thank you to those who joined us and even participated in our much loved ACG Friday dance party!
3/17-3/20/26
We have had another week of learning and fun in ACG! To kick off our week the leprechaun came and paid us a visit. He did a lot of mischievous things around our classrooms. We also went on a rainbow scavenger hunt around campus to find a pot of gold! Also, this week we were excited to receive our butterfly garden. We have learned the life cycle of a caterpillar and we are excited to see our caterpillars transform into butterflies over the next few weeks. We enjoyed reading books about caterpillars and butterflies and creating our own butterfly art! On Friday, we went on our nature walk to explore the signs of Spring!
2/23-2/27/26
This week in ACG we celebrated Dental Health Week. On Friday, Dr. Stephanie Werner (parent of NGFS 4th and 7th graders) from Lake Jeanette Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry came to visit and tell us all about what she does as a dentist. We had some great questions to ask and we were prepared to answer some of her questions about keeping up with our dental health! We went on a virtual field trip on Monday and learned about what you would expect when you go to the dentist. Our friends were so excited to tell us about their trips to the dentist where they got stickers, balloons, or prizes! We have done a lot of creating this week during free play. We have been using magnatiles, legos, hula hoops in the gym, and a lot of paper creations in our crafting stations.
As a reminder, ACG will not be doing conferences during the scheduled days on March 5th and 6th. We will have optional conferences sometime in April with before/after school times.
2/16-2/20/26
Hard to believe we have been in school for 100 days. On Monday, we celebrated the 100th day of school by creating the 100th day of school crowns. During our group time we talked about what numbers make up 100, read a story, and counted to 100. Also this week, we have been learning about Black History. We have learned about Garrett Morgan and Jackie Robinson. The children enjoyed creating traffic lights and baseballs and bats.
During Crocus small group time, we read a story called Meet President Barack Obama that talked about his life and each child was able to say what they would do if they were President. During Iris small group time, we read a book called Kente Colors that focused on the different colors of kente clothes and what they are used for. The children were able to share what their favorite color was based on the kente cloth.
